ABOUT
A lot of what makes Amy Pond who she is today is based around her childhood. She is strong, incredibly independent, and self-sufficient. Having been raised by her strict aunt Sharon in Leadworth England, she lived quietly and mostly in solitude. She was always lonely, especially when her experience with the Doctor was hers alone, but it gave her the ability to imagine all the what-ifs and it perpetuated her desire for adventure and a life outside of the small town, somewhere loud and bright and full of new experiences. It is also why she was both surprised and unsurprised by her very first meeting with the Doctor at age 7. She'd been wishing for someone to help her with the crack in her wall, and she got the Doctor.

Amy is incredibly clever, resourceful and observant. She may not have fighting skills or superpowers, but as a Companion she is an asset to the Doctor's team. While she might have her walls built around her, she is astute in reading others. When she gets to know someone, she can really sense their thoughts, almost as though she can read their minds (she can't actually). She frees the star-whale in The Beast Below, knowing that this creature is just like the Doctor - very old and the very last of his kind, who can't stand and watch children cry. She can commandeer emotional situations sensitively, such as convincing Dr Bracewell that he was human and not a Dalek in The Victory of the Daleks, and she frequently helps to lower people's defenses in high-stress, somewhat dangerous situations. Most of the time she knows when to make the right move and how to proceed, but like any normal human, she'll make mistakes too. While she might be brave, jumping into situations and taking risks, she also tends to ignore danger. She follows the Doctor into the most dangerous of situations even when it might be in her best interest to keep back. It usually allows her to help him but her dismissal of his concern can be construed as arrogant and foolhardy. In Vincent and the Doctor, Amy deliberately ignores the Doctor's warning for her not to follow him under any circumstance, which has her coming face-to-invisible-face with a Krafayis monster. The Doctor, of course, loves this about Amy (while also being frustrated about it), but this really does become a concern for Rory sometimes. It's a little out of Amy's own hands; she has a knack for diving into any kind of situation with nary a care for herself.
